Toprope
Successful, responsible & sustainable!
"How is a company responsible? Should it profit its shareholders, provide for the well-being of its employees, make excellent products, be a good force in the community, and protect nature? We think that a responsible company bears all the obligations." - Yvon Chouinard - Founder of Patagonia

Since fall 2020 we live in the old Mosti in Worb near Bern. Where apples and pears used to be pressed, there is now a unique and versatile industrial workshop with a wide variety of facets. Our neighbors include a graphic design studio, a social workshop and a business interior designer, with whom we enjoy discussing ideas, gathering input and collaborating wherever possible.
ImpressionsOur history
Toprope GmbH was founded in 2004 from the merger of the individual companies of Christoph Mauerhofer and Thomas Hofmann. The two were united by a passion for climbing and the desire to earn a living from it.
At a time when industrial climbing was still largely unknown, the two recognized the potential of carrying out manual work in places with difficult access using rope technology and thus creating a product that would open up new possibilities.
Toprope was instrumental in the development of industry standards and has been offering internationally recognized training in rope access technology since 2008. Thanks to its active involvement in various associations and committees, Toprope has an extensive network in various industries.
In 2015, Christoph Mauerhofer stepped down from the management team to pursue his own projects. Since then, Thomas Hofmann has led the company as Managing Director and sole owner.
In 2020, Toprope moves into its new headquarters in the former Worb cidery. The new, state-of-the-art training facility and the spacious store open up new opportunities and the company continues to grow.
More and more customers are choosing Toprope as their partner, as we can offer all services relating to working at height from a single source: Training, equipment sales and service, advice and safety concepts, work on suspended ropes (industrial climbing) and installation of fall protection systems.
Toprope now employs eighteen full-time staff and also has a large pool of qualified freelancers to solve all access and safety problems.
