The Gurten Training Facility

The IRATA has precisely defined requirements for a training facility. So, for example, a detailed risk assessment with an emergency plan has to be available. All suspension points must be recorded, tested and assigned an installation description. In addition, a broad range of real-life scenarios will be enacted.

After several week's work, it had paid off: Our training facility was examined by an IRATA auditor and was recommended to the chief of IRATA for certification. We are very proud to have passed this inspection.

The site is located at a former brewery, a listed brick building, which belonged to Gurten Brewery in Wabern near Berne. After the cessation of brewing operations, the fermentation tanks were removed, which left circular holes in the three mezzanine ceilings. Every mezzanine is accessible and allows for both the instructor and the trainee to get close to the action.

The multitude of possible situations means that all the methods employed in the field of rope access can be demonstrated, and there is even a shaft for practising in.

Upon request, we can also arrange for the facility to be used by external organisations.
