Becoming IRATA-Qualified
The long-standing existence of IRATA for safety at elevated positions has lead to the establishment of a three-stage study course for rope access technicians. The IRATA’s high standards mean it is recognised internationally, and qualifies a technician to work anywhere in the world. In intensive courses, each lasting five days, widely recognised rope access techniques will be taught. The courses are completed by taking an examination, which will be invigilated by a visiting IRATA expert. The course is given in the German language, (although English and French are available upon demand). No direct entries are arranged. For further information, please take a look at our application pack and the IRATA website.
The training is split into three qualification levels. With the attainment of each level, the rope access technician acquires certain competencies for use on a construction site. In order to reach the next level of training, the logbook of hours spent up working on ropes must be provided. Level 1 is the entry-level, and is open to all who are interested with able bodies and suited mentalities.
The recognition from an IRATA qualification as a rope access technician lasts for three years, after which time you have to perform a reassessment. This ensures that IRATA professionals always demonstrate high competencies.
We strongly believe that IRATA standards will be made compulsory, all across Switzerland in the long-term. Accident statistics that have been amassed by IRATA over the course of many years prove that of the millions of hours spent up in the air by IRATA technicians, to this day, there still hasn’t been one single accident that has happened with fatal consequences.
The IRATA qualification is recognised by SUVA (the Swiss Accident Insurance Fund) for work on ropes at heights.
Please let us know, if you are interested to participate in one of our courses and we will send you more information (in german).
